Ronda de Dalt Housing Units, Barcelona
Details
Site: Barcelona
Use: Residential
Description
The project forms part of a social housing construction program. The plot is located in a residual land beside a fast urban road in the high part of Barcelona. The site has a triangular shape and a strong slope.
Project
The position of the building is determined by the orientation of the housing units, the natural topography of the site, the model of implantation in this area of the city and the optimization of the natural energy resources, in terms of both light and climate.
The north, east and west façades are solid in order to insulate the housing units from the atmospheric noise and provide them with thermal inertia. The south façade, which acts as a selective sun sensor, is made up of an outer skin of wooden laminas and an inner skin with occasional openings.
The use of smart systems improves energy management in each housing unit and solar collectors are incorporated for pre-heating the water.
