The site is located in an open urban fabric, bounded by Avinguda de la Mare de Déu de Montserrat and Avinguda de Catalunya, with a level difference of 3.80 m between them. The library is conceived as a cultural center and meeting point. The result is a cylindrical building, with a single façade, acting as a hinge that connects and binds together all the urban spaces in this setting, making them safer.

The facility becomes an urban landmark, with a unified and recognizable image from any point. The difference in levels generates a two-story façade facing the city and a single-story one facing the road, integrating into the surroundings. The building’s skin, with different degrees of transparency, turns it into a lantern, reinforcing its open and social character.

The circular structure allows users to position themselves at the center and visualize the entire space, minimizing internal circulation. This double-height space is enhanced by natural light from the skylight. The more active areas, such as the children’s library, café, multipurpose room, and study rooms, are located on the ground floor, while the large, quieter general reading room is situated on the first floor.
