Project Description

Site: Mataró, Barcelona

A composition of facades with grouped openings and large massive sections is proposed. The criterion adopted is to provide the rooms with the best views and maximum natural lighting.

The type of facade that is repeated in each room is that of a fixed rectangular section and two practicable ones. The terraces of the rooms protrude from the opaque section and have the double function of protecting from direct solar radiation and of highlighting the emptiness of the plenum. The set is completed with sliding brisoleis that give rhythm to the facades.

The underground floor, intended for the most public uses, is resolved with large openings from floor to ceiling to guarantee continuity between the interior space and the exterior space of the terrace-garden without interrupting the views of the sea and the port. Spot skylights are placed on the roofs in spaces that are completely underground or with little light.
